Yeah. It pretty much is actually. I got a lot of writing done while I was there, which is impressive considering how many other things we did as a family.
We booked things like breakfast delivery, Panning for Gold (which was amazing) and Tawny Tales in advance and decided to go on walks and explore the village the rest of the time. Blue Lagoon and the Adventure Centre are included in the price so if you are looking to stick to a budget there is plenty to do without spending much money.
The lodges are big and spacey, but still really cosy, we stayed in a Grassholm which was brilliant for the girls as there was no fighting for the bathroom in the morning. The views are great from all angles and we made the most of them by watching sunrises, sunsets and the stars come out. It’s a great place for building family memories and somewhere that we will be going back to.
We tried the Millers Bakery sausages roles and cheese and potato pasties which went down brilliantly on a chilly day and one of the evenings we nipped to The Chippy and we had chips, sausages, pie and tried the fish too! The chips were amazing so if you are stuck for what to cook or just fancy a little treat after a long day of fun then I couldn’t recommend it more. And the prices are not high either.
Here are my tips:
- Bring things like shampoo, conditioner, washing up liquid
- It’s a car free zone, you can drop off luggage at your lodge for check in and then leave the car in the car park
- If you love swimming bring a few extra towels (they have towel heating racks in the bathrooms too)
- The baths are super deep so bring your favourite bubbles for a long soak after a day of activities
- Get up earlier than normal so you can catch the sunrise over the hills and woods
- They have tea strainers and cafetieres so you can bring your tasty ground coffee and loose tea if you are like me and enjoy a tasty fresh brew in the morning.
- They have a freezer so you could bring frozen goods with you (if they will last the journey in a freezer box)
- Pre book everything that you want to do so you can just arrive, unpack and enjoy it.
I think in this case photos are better than words so here we go!
