Tips for stopping smoking will always be handy, even if you haven’t decided to quit, or you’ve quit before and gone back. There are a few things that could help you on your way to being cigarette free for good.
- Start by looking at the periods during the day you might usually have a smoke. Break time at work, while you are having a drink with your friends? Prepare for those moments by having chewing gum, or a book – something to keep you occupied during your normal habit routine.
- Treat yourself to a new perfume or scent – if you no longer smoke you can smell the perfume properly – and so can people around you. Bonus. Your clothes will smell fresher for longer, and that lovely bath bomb or shower gel you’ve use will actually smell nice too – for a change.
- Try switching to a vape, companies like JAC Vapour stock some brilliant starter kits to help you make the switch. If you need help with to buy they have a chat box too.
- Keep your hands busy with a fidget cube, or take up a new hobby like writing, drawing or painting. Not only will you have something new to focus on but you will also have something to show at the end of it.
- Work out how much you spend on smoking a week, what could that buy you at the end of the week? What about the end of the month? What about if you put away that £7 a day for a whole year?! Can anyone say holiday time? And with boxes of ten slowly becoming impossible to buy, the cost of smoking will likely be higher. The more you have in a box, the more you’re likely to smoke. (if you are a 20 a day smoker, you’re spending 2 thousand pounds a year on your habit – more than enough for a really lovely holiday, house renovations or just extra spending money week on week).
