What I have learned from my youngest child

I have three girls, and I think I have learned more from the last one than the rest. I was going to edit her photo, remove the pen, get rid of the dirt from plating seeds a moment before, then I realised that wouldn’t be her. She is messy, she is busy, she is vocal, she loves to dance, she sings like a whale stranded on a beach, her hair is thin and sticks up everywhere, she slaps her feet on the floor when she runs and she runs everywhere, she likes to wear shoes but not for long, her eyes are always sparkly and she loves deeply.

I have learned that:

  • You can never have too many hugs
  • Same for kisses
  • Puddles are not just for jumping in, sometime you can sit in them too
  • Bedtimes are not written in stone, sometimes sitting with Mummy is better
  • Shelves are for climbing
  • T.V remotes are actually phones
  • Phones need to be child-locked
  • Ditto washing machines
  • Pens are to secretly draw on walls, in places you’d never think of looking
  • You can hide salad in your nappy
  • Ditto fruit
  • Banana makes a good make shift hair gel
  • You can eat hair gel and not be ill
  • Sentences don’t need to make sense to have meaning
  • Sometimes eyes and toes say more than any words can
  • That 2am is an acceptable time to need your Mum
  • Ditto 3, 4, 5 and 6am
  • There really can be more poo
  • Snails are interesting
  • Bugs are confusing
  • Shelling peas can be a sport, because Mummy has to catch them all
  • Dirty is okay
  • Bare feet in the rain is okay too
  • That you are happiest when you are with me, but free to explore
  • That I love you, even when you have drawn on yourself with pens, smell of soil and have just wedged that dirt into my keyboard.
