I was very happy to be invited along to a special tour and drinks of the Symphony Hall. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, I guess I am the person who would love to check out a ballet, classical music, and opera but I had no idea where to start. After a drinks reception, we started our tour and the first stops was the hall itself. The sheer size and warmth of colour hits you very quickly and it is breathtaking.
From the picture above I think you can see just the type of warm colour I am talking about. We learned that the seats absorb the exact amount of sound that the human body can. This is just one of the details that make the Symphony Hall a complete work of auditory art. The shape, capacity, ceiling, floors and the impressive organ has over 6,000 glorious pipes.
The back of the organ is just as beautiful and massive as the front. Behind the scenes is something I could spoil it for you but with tours available for just £8.50 (£7.50 for concessions) it really is worth spending a full 90 minutes enjoying such a rich history, gorgeous architecture and remember to bring your camera!!
After our tour we decided to check out some of the things going on for the Symphony Hall Celebrates 25 years day, however(!) we ended up in the Symphony Hall Artists bar listening to some amaziiiing music. In the end, we stayed until the band had finished, signed up to the mailing list and will be hoping to see them, and the rest of the Project Soundlounge artists soon.
I am very much looking forward to attending some of the upcoming events at The Symphony Hall and I really cannot recommend the tour enough. You even get a sneak peek at the dressing rooms!
