Sometimes I get in the egg wash trap. I wait for ages, dipping my chicken in egg mix and the into crumbs. My fingers get sticky and often I am left with a big mess, which takes the fun out of a pretty fast-food style meal.
So I spent some time making it without the egg mix. It took less time, but I was still rolling each individual chicken strip in the coating and so on.
Still too slow. So I tried throwing all the chicken in a bowl with the fry mix and it was a lumpy sticky mess. It didn’t go as planned. This way saves time and mess. Happy days.
So, here is how to make your prep time about 5 minutes and your cooking time about 5 minutes too.
I use Dunn’s River fry mix.
I use 4/5 large chicken breasts, cut into goujon style slices.
1 sandwich bag
Put the fry mix into the plastic bag.
Put your sliced chicken breasts into the bag too.
Shake it up until all the chicken pieces are coated in a thin layer of the fry mix. You might need to give it a good jiggle if any gets stuck, but it’s a quick and fuss free method.
Pop your chicken in the fryer for about 4/5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Enjoy you Super Fast Southern Fried Chicken.
I serve mine in a pita with salad, cheese, mayo and sweet chilli sauce.
