You know when you have an event coming up, you want to be a) comfortable and b) gorgeous. So when I had the chance to review something from the Summer Dresses category at JD Williams I was super excited. I opted for a black shirt dress, and a pair of brown suede boots. I will be putting up a separate review for the boots as I feel they deserve more than a small mention. So this will be all about the dress.
When it was ordered I was expecting a pretty light material, with no stretch, I bet you know the sort I am talking about too. However this felt almost crepe – like and hangs so well. It has a good bit of stretch in it and I’ve worn it so many times since it’s first outing. It’s flattering as it clings to some curves and skims over anything you maybe don’t want to draw attention too.
Here is a pretty close up so you can see the texture of the dress, the tie is a really sweet touch, if you want to pull the dress in to give you more of a waist it’s totally possible. You can see by the pulling across the chest I really should’ve ordered a size up to give myself a bit more boob room!
Below you can see a side on sat of the length, which was lovely for me. I am pretty short so I have issues with getting dresses that are too long or too short and they just look a bit, well, stupid. This one comes above the knee, I wore it here with some pretty thick leggings because it was really rainy. I’ve also paired it with some skinny jeans and ankle boots on a few occasions and just tights on others.
I absolutely love the quality of the dress, worn as a shirt or dress it will be perfect so so many occasions. I’ve already worn it to dinner, a conference day, on a night out and to a work meeting. I’ve had plenty of compliments about it, it’s a feel good item of clothing and certainly a staple!
