If you are like me, you love your camera but you have maybe lost a lens cap or two. Not only that, but your camera bag is wedged with about 8 filters, two lenses, spare batteries, mini tripod, macro conversion lens but absolutely NOTHING to clean you camera with. I don’t know how I am even allowed a camera. However, a dirty lens means a dirty photo, smudges, unintended glare and dirt build up gives a whole new meaning to grain. So here are some top tips on how to clear you DSLR and what with.
1. Soft Brush – You can use a soft brush to sweep away dust from lenses and bodies. Lift open your battery flap, memory card slot cover too – you will likely find a build up in those places and you won’t be accessing them daily. Also, if you have a removable rubber/silicone eyecup you may want to brush under that too.
2. Microfiber Cloth – Use a very soft, microfiber cloth to wipe your view finder glass, be very careful, don’t put a lot of pressure on it. Gentle circular motions should do the trick. Once you have done that move on to the screen. This will dramatically improve what you can see and therefore just like step 1, will improve your photography.
3. Carbon Cleaning Tip – The Lenpen has a great invisible carbon coated tip. Just like in the olden days when your Nan would get out the newspapers to clean her windows, this pen tip does the same job. How? Well, the ink that was printed on newpapers is made up of carbon, carbon molecules have a unique ability to absorb huge amounts of oils and contaminants. So just a quick sweep of this and you will get all of those greasy marks off of your lovely lens.
