The original date I had picked was just days before his sisters chosen date (we didn’t know about!) so we have done a quick shuffle and will be changing to the 25th May 2016.
I already have my heart set on one venue, one dress and the rest I have an idea about.
One thing I am sure about is that I don’t want an engagement ring. It just isn’t me. I have never been the girl who was sitting staring longingly at other women who had a big rock on their finger. Not only that but I don’t really think it fair that we are defined from that moment on by a ring and a title of Miss, Mrs, Mizz. As for the wedding band, I’m really not keen either! That stuff is just me though. I have a few other ideas too but I will share them as we go along and they become more concrete!
I think if you love a ring then brilliant. I do believe it is a personal choice. Now more than ever you can bend the ‘rules’ of traditional marriage and make it fit your own version of love. To me it isn’t just about making a commitment to each other, it is about making a commitment to our children’s future – exactly the same as we pay into a trust fund. If anything should happen we are all a little more secure. That is important to us all.
Apart from all that I’m very excited and even though I know it isn’t for a long time and there is no need to plan – there is no harm in starting early… right?
