I will refresh – Half way through my pregnancy Mr M spent approx £1000 on furniture and paints – in order to get he house a bit more ship shape before Mojo arrived. He also took the week off work. What was needed you ask? To paint everything white (most of it was already) and to put the furniture up. What did he do? He dotted wall filler all over the place (we now have some strange looking walls) and painted most things white – ish. Was it finished? No. We had a big fight and I finished it when I got back from a holiday which he told me to take in order tfor him to finish the house (Scoff, scoff I SCOFF AT YOU SIR) .
He had spent some time painting walls and the rest playing game.
Next incident – after weeks of telling him the bathroom needed to be finish (large, LARGE bump) he said he’d do it. He didn’t – I was so enraged I did it all myself. A nice pale relaxing blue in case you are interested!
Yes, I know this is bad – but if I don’t do it will it be done? No. Does he care? No.
Final straw – I was trying to finish painting the stairs a few days before Mojo was born. I also top-to-toed the house (nesting, but that is not the point) I left 1 stair and 1 strip for him to do. I’m still waiting for those ones.
This time I am giving the place a refresh. It needs it. So I’m typing this absolutely incensed in my kitchen, half way through the second coat of paint.
I have over the past few weeks been trying to throw things out (we have too much crap) and get everything in order. I have done the bathroom, gotten rid of all the stuff in our bedroom (as it had turned into adumping ground), turn a cot into a couch for the girls, made a wall motif, applied mirrors to their wall, relocated thier toys from living room to bedroom in a neat order, packed away clothes that don’t fit, arranged the baby clothes for No.3 into one big box that will need to be washed before arrival, picked up nappy disposal units, plants, nic-nacs and plenty of other things. Although he says ‘yes, sounds nice.’ He is absolutely useless when it comes to helping. To the point I have to bribe him with food to even talk to me.
Last night was KFC AND pizza (as you know I have not been eating anything like that for a long time now so I don’t get any pleasure from this really). Plus we had to lotion his hands, as he had screwed 2 shelves into the wall and put up 3 racks in the kitchen. Oh yeah, and 4 towel hooks in the bathroom. I went to bed alone after that too.
He has occasionally helped, he hoovered for example or he threw his boxes away.
I have spent months trying to find a new house with no help, so then the next option is obviously to get this one a bit more spacious and ship shape – apparently also alone. I am of the opinion that you need to decide before a new child arrives what you intend to do. I’m prefectly happy to stay in my house. I like it. I’d like it more if some lazy bastard would occasionally help.
So there you have it, the things I am pissed off with is actually just Mr M and is complete disregard for the house and me.
