There are a lot of fantastic restaurants in the UK, and many of them are a great visit for a romantic evening. There are a few that stand out above the rest, though, and these are the ones we want to focus on today. These are the restaurants that you take your significant to if you’re planning to propose to them. These are the restaurants you use for the best date night ever. You’re not going to forget these trips in a hurry. So, get comfy, get out your map book, and pick from the ten examples we’ve got for you today.
Inverlochy Castle, Fort William
Inverlochy Castle is actually a hotel in Fort William, and TripAdvisor rates it as the #1 hotel destination in the area. You’re going to need to head far north to get there, but it’s well worth it for the views on offer. In fact, Queen Victoria allegedly claimed to have never seen a “more romantic spot”. The castle itself was apparently built in 1873, now sporting 17 rooms and lavish features throughout.
Clos Maggiore, London
To be hailed as one of the best and most romantic restaurants in London is no mean feat. There are hundreds of them! Clos Maggiore is well known for its outstanding reputation, however, and that continues to this day. Of the 17,000+ restaurants in London, it’s currently rated at #54 on TripAdvisor. The French cuisine on offer has won 3 AA rosettes in the past, and the interior surroundings are gorgeous.
Le Manoir, Oxfordshir
The full title of this restaurant is Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. And, there’s no doubting that it’s considered one of the very best restaurants in the world. It has earned two Michelin stars for its brand of French cuisine. The restaurant is set in a refined country house, sporting views that you’d be mad not to appreciate. It appears everyone does appreciate them, as it has a perfect five-star rating on TripAdvisor from over 1700 reviews. It’s no surprise that it was recently voted best restaurant in the UK.
Thames Dinner Cruise, London
Alright, so this might not be a physical standalone restaurant, but it has to be included in our list. What more can you do to create a romantic dining experience than offer it while you’re floating along a river? This Thames river cruise also offers gentle live entertainment and a beautiful atmosphere. Once again, the TripAdvisor reviews for this are fantastic, and it has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence.
The Star Inn, Yorkshire
If you’re a fan of the countryside, The Star Inn might be for you. This 14th-century thatched inn is rated highly online, with a 4.5-star review on TripAdvisor from over 500 reviews. The Star Inn restaurant “serves innovative cuisine using regional and seasonal ingredients.” If you’re lucky, you might even find yourself being able to try a cooking class!
Galvin at Windows Restaurant & Bar, London
Once you’ve laid eyes on Galvin at Windows Restaurant & Bar, you’ll understand the attraction. It offers stunning views across London, especially when the city is illuminated at night. It’s a Michelin-starred venue, and celebrates its 10th year in operation in 2016. The restaurant itself is situated on the 28th floor of the London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane. Once you’ve made your way there, you can benefit from a 360-degree birds-eye view of London. With a 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor, this is yet another fantastic place for your romantic date night.
Fanny Trollope’s, Glasgow
Yeah, yeah. We know the title sounds funny, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook this great location in Glasgow. It’s rated as the second best restaurant in all of Glasgow, and it gets that rating due to its great location and fantastic food. The Google description describes it as a “buzzy neighbourhood bistro serving seasonal meat and fish in a cosy, candlelit dining room.” The interior is an intimate space only holding a small number of tables, but that only adds to the romantic feel. The next time you’re in Glasgow, give this place a try.
Considering this is primarily a West Midlands blog, we thought it best to include a restaurant from the area. But, Adam’s does much more than simply make up the numbers. It was recently voted the third best restaurant in the UK and made the world top ten as well. You might think that is impressive, but you’d been even more impressed to hear that it came top of the UK last year! Despite the slight slip, Adam’s is still a fantastic venue to visit. It offers “British tasting menus, in a chic, contemporary dining room.”
Tyddyn Llan, Llandrillo
We’re off to Wales for our next pick, which is yet another combination between a guest house and a restaurant. Once again, this venue has a Certificate of Excellence on TripAdvisor, with an average rating of 4.5 stars. It sports a Michelin Star like many of the venues on this list, as well as being featured by a number of media outlets. According to its website, it’s “well-rated in the ‘Good Food Guide’” and “36th in the ‘Sunday Times’ Top 100 restaurants.” We haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but we can’t wait to give it a shot.
Tuddenham Mill, Suffolk
Tuddenham Mill is an old watermill that emits a stylish feel that also offers plenty of romance. It’s a hotel/restaurant, and both are rated well on TripAdvisor, scoring 4.5 and 4-star ratings. In recent times, the restaurant has won awards and been praised for its high quality. This is noted on the hotel/restaurant’s website. “The Mill’s restaurant, second year in a row, was awarded the AA Notable Wine List 2016 commendation and received a very high cooking score of 5 from the UK’s bestselling restaurant guide.”
Phew! There are a lot of choices out there, and we’re going to leave the difficult decision in your hands. We hope your experience is everything you hope it to be!
