Okay, so the weather outside might be frightful.
And your mood might be less than delightful.
But since you’ve no place to go.
You may as well stop feeling low low low.
Apologies for misquoting the popular winter song, but we hope you get the point.
As our title suggested, winter doesn’t have to suck, despite the cold weather and gloomy skies outside. Here are five reasons why.
#1: It’s time for your winter wardrobe
If you ever wanted the incentive to declutter your wardrobe, let this be it. Push aside those summer outfits you won’t be needing for a while, perhaps by donating them or selling them online, and replenish your wardrobe with the latest in winter fashion. From winter coats to the latest knitwear, check out these winter warmers and replenish your wardrobe. You will be as snug as a bug in a rug (whatever that means) in no time.
#2: You have the perfect excuse to stay indoors
Is your summer reading list still incomplete? Has your Netflix watchlist grown in size over the last few months? Have you neglected your favourite indoor hobbies recently? If so, now is the perfect time to catch up on anything you have missed out on. When the weather is cold outside, you have the excuses you need to curl up in front of the fire with a good book, movie, or with anything else that makes your time at home complete.
#3: There might be snow
Will it snow this year? We don’t know; but love or hate the white stuff, you have to ready yourself for the eventuality. And while there is much to get annoyed about where snow is concerned – you will find it harder to get to work, your kids might have to take days off school, the dog will drag his snowy paws all over your nice clean floor – there is much to love as well. From snowball fights with the kids to snowman building competitions, you are guaranteed to have fun if it snows. Oh, and it can also make your garden and neighbourhood look quite magical too! So, returning to that classic song we misquoted, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
#4: There is the opportunity for cosy evenings
What’s better than curling up in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate loaded with marshmallows? What’s better than having the opportunity to bond with your kids over a board game or two and a movie night? What’s better than sitting down for a hot and delicious winter meal in the early evening? We can’t think of anything else, especially during the winter season, so do those things that will cosy up your evenings at home.
You already know Christmas is coming by the Channel 5 festive movies that are playing every day. If you have visited your local store recently, you might have noticed the latest toys on display too, from the jellycat toys for babies that have taken the world by storm to the mountain of Roblox-inspired toys cluttering up the shelves. Now is the time to start saving your pennies! But while Christmas can be expensive, and while it can be as saccharine as those festive movies we mentioned, there is something magical about Christmas. Spending time with family, putting up the Christmas tree, opening presents on Christmas morning, eating delicious food… there is much to look forward to, so let festive thoughts merry their way around your mind whenever you’re feeling down.
So, we hope this article has thawed your winter heart, but let us know what you think. And please share with us any other reasons you might have for loving (instead of hating) the winter!
Thanks for reading!
