Make sure to be in a calm environment, use soothing tones of voice and calm gestures. Start to associate the calm sensations with a relaxing massage.It is better that baby be lying in front of you in a warm room with little to no clothing or nappy on.
Warm oil in your hands (see Oil Types sheet for suitable oils)
Open Book: Place your hands on baby’s chest and gentle glide drop each side to the wrist, always towards the wrist.
Lymph Gland: Gently rub under the arm pit, not enough to tickle though!
Butterfly: With your right hand on babies right shoulder gently massage then move the hand diagonally from right shoulder to bottom of left side rib cage. Move the left hand up to the left shoulder, massage gently and slide from left shoulder to under the right side rib cage. Repeat these motions rhythmically.
