How to Look Good Without the Effort

How to look good without the effort

We’ve all been there before; you’re going out and you can’t be bothered to get ready. Before you cancel those plans, take a look at this guide from occasion dresses retailer QUIZ.

Here, they explain how to look good with minimal effort, helping you nail this season’s hottest trend: effortless style.

Knitwear is essential at this time of year, especially when the temperatures are low. The trends we’re wearing now are cableknit, stripes and oversized knits, and having some staple knitwear pieces in your wardrobe is essential for the colder months and can keep your outfits on fleek.

Jumper dresses

For all of the style with none of the effort, choose a jumper dress with chunky tights. There is no time wasted choosing matching garments and with long, knitted sleeves, there’s no need to scour your closet for a complementing coat either.

The great thing is, you can dress up your jumper dress too. Simply wear with over-the-knee boots or if you’re in the mood to show off your curves, wrap a chunky belt around your dress to nip your waist in.

High neck knits

Upgrade your jumpers with this season’s biggest trend: layering. The principles of layering are pretty self-explanatory; it is achieved by wearing a polo neck underneath a square-necked top. Couple with your favourite pair of jeans and an ankle boot to fully master the look.

Layering is perfectly suitable for work too — wear a lightweight knit under a tailored blazer for office sophistication.

Ankle boots

Long ago, we switched the sandals and loafers for ankle boots — and we haven’t stopped wearing them since!

Our favourite boot style at the moment is the sock boot. They feature a pointed toe, high heel and textured fabric that fits to the ankle. They are pull on for extra ease and can be paired with jeans during the day time and a stylish skirt for a night on the town.

Of course, we’ve chosen black boots for ultimate versatility. Boots with a chunky heel will be suitable for both day and night time.

Choose the right accessories and you can turn one outfit into multiple looks. Pay particular attention to earrings — tassels, chunky metal and huge hoops (yep, they’re still on trend) can be matched with most outfits. Choose a black or gold pair to make sure that they complement your ensemble and keep them in your bag to slip in for after-work drinks.

In terms of bags, choose small, leather bags and backpacks for a practical finishing touch. Black is an ideal option to go for if you’re hoping to use it every day; buy one with a cute pattern on to keep things interesting.

Who said looking good had to be complicated!?
